Collar Not Connecting to WIFI
You should ensure that your Halo is connected to Wi-Fi whenever possible because there are benefits to using Wi-Fi instead of LTE:
- Your collar will automatically download and apply firmware updates when charging while connected to Wi-Fi
- These updates provide new features and improvements
- Your collar will automatically download satellite data over Wi-Fi, improving GPS accuracy
However, your collar will still work to keep your pup safe within your virtual fence without an internet connection by using GPS data.

Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Issues
If you're having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, try the following:
- Make sure your phone is also connected to the Wi-Fi network
- “Forget” the Wi-Fi network in your phone settings and reconnect to confirm the correct network name and password
- If your password is incorrect, the Halo App will indicate this
- The Halo Collar will not detect or connect to hidden networks
- Ensure the network is password protected and 2.4GHz
- Make sure you are selecting a 2.4 GHz or merged Wi-Fi network
- If your network isn’t appearing, confirm it is set to 2.4 GHz
- If your network isn't appearing in the list of choices, follow the instructions in this article to confirm that your network is on 2.4 GHz.
- Move the collar into the same room as the router and try again
- Reset your router if needed
- Check the collar diagnostics in Settings and review the Wi-Fi module
- If you receive a message that the Wi-Fi module is not working properly, contact support
Important
If your collar is on firmware version 01.05.89 or older, it will not be able to connect to Wi-Fi without being updated. Please follow the steps outlined in this article to perform a Wired Firmware Update before attempting to connect to Wi-Fi.
Additional Tips
- If no Wi-Fi networks are available, you can use your phone as a hotspot
- Your Halo Collar can connect to multiple Wi-Fi networks and will automatically switch between them as needed
