Troubleshooting: Unable to Configure IP Address
If your Halo Collar is unable to configure an IP address after restarting your router, it may mean that no IP addresses are currently available on your network.
In this case, you may need to reserve (pre-lease) an IP address for your Halo Collar using its MAC address.
When to Try This
You may need to complete these steps if:
- Restarting your router did not resolve the issue
- Your network is unable to assign an IP address to the collar
- You continue to see “Unable to Configure IP Address” errors
How to Reserve an IP Address
This process varies depending on your router model, but the general steps are:
Step 1: Locate Your Router Information
- Find your home Wi-Fi router
- Locate the label on the router
- Identify the make and model
Step 2: Find Router-Specific Instructions
- Search online using:
- [Router Make + Model] + “reserve IP address”
- or “DHCP reservation”
- Follow the instructions specific to your router
⚠️ Note: Steps will vary by manufacturer, and Halo cannot provide exact instructions for every router.
Step 3: Reserve an IP Using the MAC Address
- Use your Halo Collar’s MAC address when prompted
- Assign (reserve) an available IP address through your router settings
Additional Resources
- Refer to your router’s manual or manufacturer support site
- Many manufacturers provide guides for DHCP reservation / IP leasing
