My Dog’s Location Is Not Accurate in the App
If your dog’s Pet Pin on the My Map screen does not match their real-world location, follow the steps below to improve accuracy.
Check Basic Requirements
- Ensure the collar is powered on and has sufficient battery
- Location updates will not occur if the collar is off or critically low
- Confirm your phone is connected via:
- Wi-Fi
- LTE/Cellular
- Bluetooth (within 100 ft / 30.5 m)
- Note:
- If your phone has no service, it will only receive updates via Bluetooth
- The Pet Pin updates in real time when a connection is active
Verify GPS Signal Strength
- Make sure the collar’s GPS status is set to High
- Lower GPS levels can reduce accuracy or pause updates
Initialize GPS for Better Accuracy
Steps to Recalibrate GPS
- Take the collar outside to an open area
- Choose a location with a clear view of the sky
- Avoid heavy tree cover or nearby buildings
- Wait for the GPS to initialize
- Look for the GPS light to begin blinking blue
- Move with the collar
- Walk around while holding it
- Slightly shake the collar to trigger motion sensors
- Watch the Pet Pin in the app
- The location should begin updating in real time
What to Expect
- GPS calibration may take:
- 1–2 minutes in ideal conditions
- Longer in obstructed environments
- Once the GPS light is blinking:
- The collar is collecting updated satellite data
- GPS Accuracy will continue to improve with time and movement outdoors
Still Not Accurate?
If accuracy issues continue:
- Allow more time outdoors for calibration
- Ensure strong GPS signal conditions
