What Does Low, Medium, and High GPS mean?
The Halo Collar uses three GPS signal levels to determine how it tracks your dog and delivers feedback:
Low GPS
- Fence feedback is paused
- Location updates are less frequent
- Typically occurs indoors or in areas with poor signal
Medium GPS
- Only the Return Whistle is active
- Prevents false corrections caused by inconsistent GPS signals
High GPS
-
All feedback is active, including:
- Warning
- Boundary
- Emergency
- Encouragements
- This is the ideal signal level when your dog is outdoors
How GPS Affects Collar Feedback
Your dog’s GPS signal level directly determines what type of feedback the collar can provide. This helps ensure your dog only receives feedback when location accuracy is reliable.
What Do the Pet Pin Icons Mean?
Your dog’s Pet Pin appearance on the map will change based on GPS signal and fence status:
High GPS
- Pet Pin appears solid
- Location is accurate and actively updating
Medium GPS
- Pet Pin shows a medium signal indicator
Low GPS
- Pet Pin shows a paused indicator
- Feedback is temporarily disabled
Important: Fences Turned Off
If your Pet Pin appears like this:
- This means your fences are turned off manually
To turn fences back on:
- Open the Pet Card
- Toggle the fence setting to ON (blue)
Additional Notes
When your dog is in an area with Medium GPS, the collar will avoid delivering Prevention Feedback to prevent inaccuracies. Instead, it will use the Return Whistle if your dog approaches or crosses a fence boundary.
Because of this, it’s important that your dog is properly trained to respond to the Return Whistle.
