Why is my dog's Pet Pin dimmed on My Map?
Your dog’s Pet Pin will appear as a solid color when showing an accurate location on My Map, and dimmed when the current location is unavailable. In this case, the Pet Pin will display the last known location.
Possible Reasons for a Dimmed Pet Pin
There are four reasons why your dog’s current location might be unavailable. The Pet Pin will indicate which of these is the cause:
1. Collar Battery Needs to Be Charged
- The Pet Card will show if the collar:
- Needs to be charged
- Is currently charging
Is fully charged
2. No Connection Between Collar and App
- The Pet Pin will display circular rotating arrows
- The Pet Card will show “Attempting to Connect…” along with troubleshooting suggestions
Even if the collar is not connected to your phone, it is still keeping your dog safe
3. Low GPS Signal Strength
- A paused icon will appear at the top of the Pet Pin
- This indicates that fence feedback is paused until GPS signal improves
You can view GPS signal strength on the Pet Card
4. App Recently Opened
- When you first open the app, the Pet Card will display “Updating…”
This occurs while your phone connects to the collar to retrieve its location
What to Expect
Once the issue is resolved, your dog’s Pet Pin will return to a solid color, and their location will update accordingly.
