Understanding Your Fence Feedback Status
Current Halo App
- iOS: Version 3.0.0 (or newer)
- Android: Version 1.71 (or newer)
Your Fence Feedback status tells you whether your dog's collar is currently providing feedback for the selected fence.
You can see the current status in the My Fences header next to the selected fence name.
Active
Active means Fence Feedback is enabled for the selected fence and pet.
The fence will appear yellow on the map, and your dog's collar will provide feedback as they approach the fence boundary.
Inactive
Inactive means Fence Feedback is turned off for the selected fence.
The fence will appear as a subtle orange outline on the map. Your dog's location can still be tracked, but they will not receive feedback when approaching the fence boundary.
Partial
If you have multiple pets assigned to a fence and Fence Feedback is enabled for only some of them, the status will show Partial.
This means at least one pet has Fence Feedback enabled and at least one does not.
Paused
Paused means Fence Feedback is temporarily unavailable because your pet's tracking is paused.
This can happen when your pet is indoors or somewhere with a blocked view of the sky. Fence Feedback will not be sent while tracking is paused.
When your pet moves back outside and the collar regains a clear view of the sky, tracking and Fence Feedback will resume automatically.
Legacy Halo App
- iOS: Version 2.12 (or older)
- Android: Version 1.71 (or older)
Fence Feedback determines whether your Halo Collar provides feedback when your dog approaches the boundary of an active fence.
When Fence Feedback Is On
When Fence Feedback is enabled, your collar will provide feedback as your dog approaches the fence boundary.
To check this setting:
- Swipe up on the Pet Card.
- Under Collar Settings, find Fences.
- When Fence Feedback is enabled, the setting will show Fences: Feedback and the toggle will be blue.
When Fence Feedback Is Off
When Fence Feedback is turned off, the app will indicate that the collar is in Tracking Mode and that Fence Feedback has stopped. Your dog's location will continue to be tracked, but the collar will not provide feedback at fence boundaries.
To check this setting, swipe up on the Pet Card and look under Collar Settings. When Fence Feedback is disabled, the toggle will be gray and the setting will show Fences: Ignore.
