Do I Train My Dog to a Specific Boundary?
NOTE: It is essential to review the training modules in your Halo App, which cover this information in detail. Reading support articles is not a substitute for completing both the user and pet training programs.
Universal Boundary Training
With the Halo System, you do not train your dog to a specific boundary line or location on your property. Instead, your dog is trained to understand that Prevention Feedback means “fence”, and “fence” means:
Stop
Turn around
Return to safety
The default Warning Feedback is a fast beeping sound, but this can be customized.
This teaches a universal signal, helping your dog break distractions and respond appropriately.
Freedom to Train Anywhere
-
Your dog will respond to the Prevention Feedback in any location, including:
A friend’s yard
The beach
Parks or other unfamiliar areas
As long as your dog receives feedback at the boundary, they will know to stop and return to safety, regardless of exact fence coordinates.
Safety Guidelines
Place your Halo Fence at least 20 feet (4.6–6.1 meters) from your house.
Maintain 20 feet (4.6–6.1 meters) from roads or other dangerous areas.
Customizable Feedback Options
-
The Halo Collar allows you to choose from:
Beep (default)
Various vibration patterns
Static correction
Escalating levels of Prevention Feedback help redirect a dog that is too distracted to respond to the initial feedback.

Summary
The Halo System trains your dog to recognize a universal signal for “fence”, rather than memorizing specific coordinates. This ensures your dog can safely navigate any environment, while you maintain flexibility in setting up fences. Customizable feedback and escalation levels give you full control to ensure your dog stops, turns, and returns safely.
