Can My Dog Escape the Halo Fence?
Once your dog completes training, they will understand the meaning of Fence Feedback notifications and are unlikely to leave their Halo Fence boundary.
Emergency Feedback
If a dog ignores the Fence Feedback:
The Halo Collar is not like a regular fence; it continues to provide protection even if the dog moves beyond the boundary.
Your dog will receive Emergency Feedback if it crosses the fence boundary while moving away from the safe zone.
Emergency Feedback continues until your dog stops moving or turns back toward safety.
Once turning back, the collar switches to Encouragement Feedback, using the configurable Return Whistle to guide your dog back to the safe zone.
Protection Zone
Extends about 300 feet (91.4 meters) beyond your Halo Fence boundary.
Emergency Feedback is active as long as the dog is moving away from the safe zone and is still within the Protection Zone.
-
If your dog moves beyond the Protection Zone, the collar enters Lost Mode:
Emergency Feedback stops to avoid confusing your dog.
Encouragement prompts (Return Whistle) guide your dog back to the Halo Fence.
Monitoring Your Dog
Use the My Map feature in the Halo App to view your dog’s location.
-
Location updates require:
Your phone to be connected to the Internet
Your dog’s Halo Collar connected via cellular (AT&T), Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth
You will receive a notification the first time your dog receives Emergency Feedback when leaving the Halo Fence.
Summary
The Halo Fence is designed to prevent escapes through a combination of Fence Feedback, Emergency Feedback, and Encouragement Feedback. Even if a dog ignores the initial warnings, the collar continues to guide them safely back using the Protection Zone and Return Whistle, while allowing you to monitor their location via the Halo App.
