How Does Halo Keep My Dog Safely Contained Inside My Halo Fence?
The Halo Collar keeps your dog safely within your Halo Fence by using associative learning during the training program. Through training, your dog learns to associate the collar’s Prevention Feedback with stopping and turning back toward the safe area.
Halo provides three levels of Prevention Feedback:
Warning Feedback
Boundary Feedback
Emergency Feedback
All feedback types can be customized in the Halo App using sounds, vibrations, or static correction.
What Happens When Your Dog Approaches a Fence Boundary
1. Warning Zone
As your dog approaches the fence boundary (typically 7–10 feet / 2.1–3.0 meters away), they enter the Warning Zone.
2. Warning Feedback
If your dog continues moving toward the boundary within the Warning Zone, the collar will deliver Warning Feedback.
This may include a sound, vibration, or static impulse, depending on your settings.
3. Continued Approach
If your dog ignores the Warning Feedback and continues moving toward the boundary, the collar escalates to Boundary Feedback and Emergency Feedback, activating all three levels of Prevention Feedback.
4. Turnaround
Ideally, when your dog hears the Warning Feedback, they will remember their training and turn around before reaching the boundary. When your dog begins heading back toward the safe zone, the collar will play the Return Whistle, which serves as Encouragement Feedback guiding them back home.

Summary
Halo uses a layered feedback system and training-based learning to keep your dog safely within their fence. As your dog approaches the boundary, the collar provides escalating feedback prompts that encourage them to stop and return to safety. With proper training, most dogs quickly learn to recognize these signals and stay within their Halo Fence.
