Will Halo Work When I Don’t Have Cellular or Wi-Fi Coverage (i.e. While Camping or Hiking in a Remote Location)?
Yes! The Halo Collar continues to keep your dog safe even in areas with poor or no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.
How It Works
Pre-Set Fences: Create your Halo Fences while connected to Wi-Fi before heading to a remote location. These fences are stored directly in your collar’s memory and will remain active even if the collar loses power or internet connection.
Fence Details:
Halo Fences are virtual boundaries that keep your dog contained in a defined area.
Each fence can have up to 20 posts, allowing for custom shapes.
Fence limits vary by membership plan:
Bronze: up to 5 fences
Silver: up to 20 fences
Gold: unlimited fences
What May Be Affected Without Cellular
Notifications to Your Phone: Alerts about your dog’s activity may not be delivered in real-time.
Live Location Display: The dog’s pin on your My Map screen may not update until a connection is restored.
Key Benefits
Once fences are created, the collar will manage containment via GPS, independent of cellular or Wi-Fi.
If you are within Bluetooth range or the collar can reach Wi-Fi, notifications and live location updates will still work.
You can safely take your dog camping, hiking, or to other remote locations without worrying about them leaving the designated safe zones.
Summary
The Halo Collar ensures your dog’s safety even off the grid. By pre-setting fences, relying on GPS containment, and taking advantage of Bluetooth/Wi-Fi when available, you can confidently keep your dog secure anywhere, from your backyard to remote hiking trails or camping spots.
