Will Halo Work When I Don’t Have Cellular or Wi-Fi Coverage (i.e. While Camping or Hiking in a Remote Location)? Follow
The Halo Collar will protect your dog even if you have no Wi-Fi and poor or nonexistent cellular coverage.
You should set up your Halo Fences before you leave/while you still have Wi-Fi, and they will work seamlessly upon your arrival. Halo Fences are stored in the collar's memory and won't be lost, even if the collar loses power or internet connection.
A Halo Fence is a virtual fence that works with your Halo Collar to keep your dog(s) contained in a certain geographical area. A Halo Fence can be comprised of up to 20 fence posts, so your fence can be uniquely shaped to fit your needs. Bronze Pack Members can have up to 5 Fences, Silver Pack Members have up to 20 and Gold Pack Members have unlimited Fences.
The only features that would be affected if your dog's Halo Collar does not have a cellular connection are:
- Its ability to send notifications to your phone
- Its ability to display its live location on your My Map screen.
As long as you're able to connect to Wi-Fi while creating and editing your fences, you can send these changes from your phone to the collar without any issues.
After that, your Halo Fences will automatically communicate with your dog's Halo Collar through GPS. If you're within Bluetooth range of your dog, or if your dog's Halo Collar is in Wi-Fi range, you won't need a cellular connection at all--and you will still be able to receive notifications and see your dog's pet pin location on your My Map screen.
