What is the Halo Beacon Range?
The Beacon range is adjustable and not tied to a specific number of feet. Instead, think of it as controlling signal strength:
- Increasing the range expands the radius
- Decreasing the range shrinks the radius
How Beacon Range Works
The Beacon creates a spherical (dome-shaped) radius, not a flat circle.
Important:
If the range is set too high, your dog may receive feedback even when they are on another floor.
Because every home and environment is different, you may need to experiment with the range to find what works best for your setup.
This applies to both:
- Keep Away
- Ignore Fences
Keep Away Example
If you’re using a Beacon to keep your dog out of an area (like a kitchen):
- Your dog will receive Warning Feedback at the outer edge of the range
- If they continue closer, they will receive Boundary Feedback
The red “X” marks in the image below represent these zones:
- Outer “X” → Warning
- Inner “X” → Boundary
Ignore Fences Example
When using the Ignore Fences function:
- The Beacon creates a safe-zone “dome” around it
- As long as your dog stays within this range, no fence feedback will occur
This is useful when:
- Walking through an active fence
- Driving through a fence without turning it off
As shown below, as long as your dog’s collar remains within the blue circle, they will not receive feedback when crossing fence boundaries.
