How to Update the Firmware on My Halo Collar
Your Halo Collar’s firmware (software) updates automatically to ensure optimal performance, new features, and system improvements.
How Firmware Updates Work
Firmware updates happen in two automatic steps while your collar is:
- Connected to Wi-Fi or cellular
- Plugged in and charging
Step 1: Downloading the Update
- Begins automatically when a new version is available
- Occurs while the collar is:
- Charging
- Connected to Wi-Fi or cellular
- Important notes:
- You may not see the download happening
- The Halo App will notify you when the download starts
- You can continue using the collar during this phase
- If unplugged, the download will pause and resume later
Step 2: Installing the Update
- Starts automatically after the download completes
- During installation:
- The battery light will blink Red and Green
- This can last:
- As little as 30 seconds
- Up to 10 minutes
- Important:
- Do not unplug the collar during installation
- This is the only time the collar will blink red while charging
How to Know the Update Is Complete
- Battery light returns to:
- Blinking green (charging), or
- Solid green (fully charged)
- You will also see:
- A notification in the Halo App
- Firmware status showing “Up to Date”
Wi-Fi vs. Cellular Updates
- Updates can download over cellular, but Wi-Fi is recommended
- Benefits of Wi-Fi:
- Faster downloads
- Additional background updates (e.g., satellite data)
If Your Collar Won’t Update
- Ensure the collar is:
- Charging
- Connected to Wi-Fi
- If issues continue:
- Perform a wired firmware update (see related article)
