How to Issue or Manage Prevention and Encouragement Feedback
Lesson 5 of the Halo Training Program will guide you through setting up feedback on your dog's Halo Collar. It is highly recommended that you follow the Halo Training Program, as it will assess the effectiveness of the Halo system for your dog.
Important
- Warning feedback and encouragements are a critical part of Halo Collar behavior training
- Complete the Halo Collar Behavior Training section in the app before manually sending feedback
- During training, set warning feedback to the minimum level required to get the appropriate response from your dog
- These settings should always be used in conjunction with the training program
Prevention (Warning) Feedback
Warning feedback is a stimulus provided by the Halo Collar and occurs at three levels:
- Audible
- Tactile
- Static
- During initial training, static correction may be used to help your dog learn to respond to audible or tactile warnings
- Over time, your dog should respond to warning-level feedback alone
- In high-distraction situations, static correction may still be necessary to regain your dog’s attention and ensure safety
Encouragements
Encouragements are sounds your dog associates with positive behavior:
- Good Dog – Reinforces good behavior
- Heading Home – Reinforces safe behavior after unsafe actions
- Whistle – Encourages your dog to return to you
