Each Halo Collar ships with a Halo strap made from an easy-to-clean, extremely durable material that won't retain water, smells, or bacteria. However, if you wish to use your own collar or strap, follow the steps below.
If you wish to replace the current strap with a similar ‘snap-style' or clip-style’ strap, follow these instructions:
NOTE: After installation, a snap- or clip-style strap will not be easily adjustable.
- Fit and adjust the provided snap/clip-style strap to your dog’s neck before starting. (If a Halo Collar was already installed on the strap, follow steps 2-4 to remove it first)
- Unscrew and remove – but keep - the Halo Collar’s installed contact tips. You will need these in step 8.
- Open the two Retention Loops by unscrewing the two thumb screws and releasing that end of each loop.
- Remove the Halo strap carefully from each retention loop
- Using the Halo strap as a guide, punch two retention holes in your own collar. The location of these holes should be at the same positions as on the Halo strap—as measured from the buckle-end.
NOTE: This typically requires punching each hole through two layers of your snap- or clip-type strap. If so, the ‘snap/clip-style’ strap will not be adjustable. - Slide the new strap in place and align the two retention holes with the contact tip locations on the Halo Collar.
- Close and secure the each of the retention loops around the strap by closing the loop and hand-tightening each thumb screw.
- Screw both of the original contact tips through the strap into the the Halo Collar.
