Your Halo Collar uses GPS data to automatically determine if it is indoors or outdoors. This information is accessed on the Pet Card in the Halo App; it will say "Indoor GPS" or "Outdoor GPS" under Collar Status depending on the signal it is receiving.
When this feature is working properly, you do not need to turn fences off when your dog goes inside. When your collar registers an "Indoor GPS" signal, it automatically stops the GPS from drifting, thus ensuring that your dog will not receive erroneous corrections while indoors.
The only reason you would turn fences off whenever your dog goes inside is if you notice that your collar is incorrectly determining indoor vs. outdoor signals (i.e. if you see "Outdoor GPS" on the Pet Card when your dog is indoors, or vice versa). If this is the case, you can turn fences off when your dog is indoors to prevent the possibility of incorrect feedback. Please make sure to turn fences back on before letting your dog back outside.
If you repeatedly notice that the indoor/outdoor sensor is incorrect, please contact customer service, and we will recalibrate your collar's GPS sensor to detect indoor/outdoor signals more accurately.
